Biography
Sima Salehi Rahni is an Iranian-born artist who has lived in various countries. She spent eighteen years in Singapore before moving to New Zealand, where she lived for thirteen years. Currently, she resides in Canada. Sima holds a Master in Fine Arts (Painting) and a Bachelor's (Hons) in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore. In 2023, she completed a Doctorate in Fine Arts at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.
Sima's multimodal art practice spans photography, moving images, and installations, through which she explores themes of cultural identity, hybridity, and liminality. Her works have been featured in many exhibitions, including those at the Singapore Art Museum, Lasalle College of the Arts, Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Elam Show in Auckland, New Zealand. Sima has been awarded the Ida Cliff and Todd Trust Scholarship awards in New Zealand, and her artworks are part of public collections such as the Singapore Art Museum.
